Coaching Courses

INTRODUCTION

A heartfelt thank you extends to our valued clubs, dedicated volunteers, and our team who play pivotal roles in coaching and nurturing both novice and seasoned players. Bowls, a remarkably accessible sport, is often regarded as “easy to play, hard to master,” presenting us with an incredible chance to connect with a diverse audience while providing enriching developmental opportunities.

Recognising the vital role coaching plays in every bowler’s journey, we are steadfast in our commitment to bolstering clubs and coaches, ensuring an unparalleled experience for all involved.

If you have a passion for development or an interest in coaching, we encourage you to reach out to Brendon Walton at [email protected].

COACHING COURSES

Bowls New Zealand Coach Development Framework programme is offering the following courses:

Foundation Coach
Target Player: Beginners, social, school-aged.
Duration: 3-5 hours.

Foundation coaches can come from anywhere, it’s not about who they are but whether they understand and care about the development of people and offering them an enjoyable experience that will make them want to come back for more.

Development Coach Course
Target Player: Intermediate to advanced bowlers at club, centre, and national levels.
Duration: 12 hours either over a weekend or four evening sessions.

The Development coach will facilitate higher-level skill development, decision-making, and goal-setting in the sport context. This course will take you to the next level, giving you a deeper understanding of the coach approach. The focus is on coaching principles and sport-specific knowledge to equip coaches to offer challenging and enjoyable training opportunities for developing players.

Development Coach Update/Re-accreditation Course
Target Player: Intermediate to advanced bowlers at club, centre and national levels.
Duration: 4 hours either a weekend day or evening session.

If you have a Development Coach accreditation and still actively coaching after two years, then it’s time to refresh by attending this course and keeping your accreditation active.
