Auckland representatives announced

Bowls Auckland is delighted to announce its squads selected for the Battle of the Bridge.

The annual Battle of the Bridge is marked on the calendar for Sunday 3 December.  This formidable representative challenge between North Harbour and Auckland follows the Ryders Cup format – the title and winners’ bragging rights are determined by the combined results of each team’s eight players!

Each centre will put forward Men’s and Women’s teams for three squads – Premier, Premier Development and 1-5 Year, and each team participates in two games of Fours, four games of Pairs and eight Singles matches.

Head Selector Alison Rennie said, “With all three squads competing on the same day in the same challenge, with every player contributing to the overall result, makes the format exciting for both players and supporters.”

The Premier Development squad has been created to provide opportunities for emerging players to develop and give them a pathway link to Premiers. To that end, team selections will prioritise 1-to-10-year players whilst from time to time utilising a limited number of more experienced players in mentorship roles or to ensure the squad is well-rounded.

Congratulations to all players selected to represent the Auckland region, and good luck with the Battle of the Bridge Challenge.

The squads are as follows:

The host venues are:
Premier & Premier Development – Howick
1-5 Year – Sunnybrae
