Two weekends, 550 competitors, and a whole lot of bowls, the 2025 Taylor Interclub Eights and Sixes have officially wrapped up, and what a showcase of Auckland club spirit it was!
Once again, this event confirmed its reputation as the largest participation-based competition on the Bowls Auckland calendar, uniting players of all ages and experience levels in a celebration of teamwork, pride, and friendly rivalry.
Men’s Divisions
After a strong start in Week 1, the Howick Hammerheads carried their momentum right through to the finish, claiming the Men’s Premier title in commanding style. Their consistency across both weekends proved too good, capping off an excellent early-season run.
In Division 2, Pringle Park Lightning came out on top after a tightly fought battle. At the same time, Ōtāhuhu Railway Storm and Epsom Eagles took out Divisions 3 and 4, respectively, both teams showing steady improvement and strong cohesion across the competition.
Women’s Divisions
After sitting just off the lead in Week 1, St Heliers produced a superb second weekend to claim the Women’s Premier title, edging ahead of early leaders Onehunga & Districts and a persistent Royal Oak side. Their balance of experience and depth shone through at the most crucial moments.
In Division 2, the Howick were again flying high, backing up their men’s success with another strong team performance to secure top spot.
Any Combination
Mt Wellington Magic lived up to their name, finishing the event as Any Combination champions after two weekends of impressive form. Their ability to stay composed under pressure was key, rounding out an excellent campaign. Other strong performances came from Pt Chevalier Pirates and Mt Eden Eagles, who were in the mix throughout.
Sixes: Blue & White
In the Sixes Blue section, Balmoral held their nerve in a competitive field to take the title, while the Papatoetoe Power Rangers dominated the Sixes White section, their consistency across matches earning them a well-deserved win.
