Taylor Bowls 8s & 6s: The Race is On!
29 October 2026

The race is on, the pressure is building, and the finish line is in sight!

One weekend down, one to go! The opening weekend of Taylor Bowls Interclub delivered fierce competition, nail-biting finishes and a few surprises along the way. Now, with promotion, relegation and section honours hanging in the balance, Saturday 31 October promises a thrilling conclusion!

Men’s Eights: Promotion Battles Heating Up!

Royal Oak Atlas have set the pace in the Premier Division, sitting proudly at the top with 14 rink points. But there’s no room for complacency, with Pringle Park and Howick breathing down their necks on 12 points apiece. One slip could change everything!

The promotion race is just as intense. St Heliers Men have their sights firmly set on a return to the Premier Division, while Pringle Park’s second side is also making a serious push for promotion to join the first side.

In Division 3, traditional powerhouses Pt Chevalier and New Lynn are rebuilding their strength and positioning themselves for a climb back up the rankings.

Meanwhile, Mt Albert’s second side is running riot in Division 4, winning an incredible eight of their nine games on opening weekend!

With just two rounds remaining in Divisions 3 and 4, and three rounds in Divisions 1 and 2, every rink point is precious. There’s simply no room for error!

Women’s Eights: Can Anyone Catch Mt Albert?

With a slightly smaller field this season, all ten women’s sides are battling it out in one fiercely contested division.

Mt Albert have come out firing! Armed with plenty of talent, they’ve established an imposing two-game lead heading into the final weekend.

St Heliers are leading the chase, while Glen Eden is proving that quality beats quantity. Fielding just one side this season, they’ve powered into third place, level on rink points with Royal Oak.

One of the biggest surprises has been Carlton Cornwall, who find themselves down in seventh after the opening weekend. Don’t expect them to stay there. They’ll be hungry to climb the table and remind everyone what they’re capable of!

And there’s more than just bragging rights at stake. With the potential return to a two-division format as entries grow in future seasons, every finishing position could prove crucial.

Any Combination Eights: Too Close to Call!

The Any Combination competition continues to grow, with two sections of six teams producing some outstanding battles.

In the Blue Section, Rocky Nook hold the narrowest of leads, sitting just one rink point ahead of Henderson.  It’s equally tight in the white section with Carlton Cornwall Flamingos and Mt Eden Fire locked together on 12 rink points. The Flamingos hold the advantage on net total of shots (NTOS), but with everything still to play for, neither side can afford to blink!

Interclub Sixes: Small Clubs, Big Ambitions!

The Sixes competition heads into its final weekend with plenty to celebrate, both on and off the green! Last weekend marked a fantastic milestone for Ponsonby Bowling Club, who successfully hosted its first centre event since the apartment development more than 12 years ago. A brilliant achievement and a welcome return to the event hosting stage!

This Saturday, the White Section heads to Maraetai, where some of Auckland’s smaller clubs continue to show exactly what makes Interclub special. Ponsonby, Maraetai and Bucklands Beach are flying the flag alongside established clubs Royal Oak, Kohimarama and Pakuranga. It’s a fantastic example of Interclub creating opportunities for clubs of all sizes to get involved, compete and enjoy the excitement of centre competition.

Meanwhile, over at Epsom, it’s a heavyweight showdown at the top of the Blue Section. Blockhouse Bay and Te Atatū are locked together on a perfect four match points, setting up a mouth-watering battle for section supremacy.

One Final Saturday. So Much at Stake!

This is what Interclub is all about!

With the Eights fighting for their place in the rankings and the Any Combination and Sixes chasing section honours, every bowl, every end and every rink point could make the difference.

The stage is set, the contenders are ready, and the final chapter is about to be written.

Who will rise to the occasion, and who will be left wondering what might have been?

We’ll find out this Saturday, 31 October, when Taylor Bowls Interclub reaches its thrilling conclusion across Auckland!
