President’s Day 2026: Celebrating Our Volunteers
7 October 2026

Kohi Bowling Club was a hive of activity on Sunday 4 October, hosting one of the more special days on the Bowls Auckland calendar, President’s Day 2026.

President’s Day is about saying thank you. It is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the volunteers and club leaders who give so much of their time to bowls and work tirelessly behind the scenes to make our clubs what they are.

This year, 30 teams and more than 150 attendees came together, representing 29 clubs as well as the Auckland Umpires Association, and several supporters.

For one day, those who are so often organising, supporting, leading and helping others had the chance to simply enjoy themselves, to connect, have a laugh, play some bowls and spend time with others who share the same commitment to their clubs and communities.

The greens were awash with club colours, and it was fantastic to welcome representatives from right across Auckland, including those who travelled a little further from Waiheke, Piha, Maraetai, Bucklands Beach and Oratia.

Off the green, there were plenty of laughs, a delicious lunch and outstanding hospitality from the team of volunteers at Kohi, led by Club President Jim Jericevich.

Bowls Auckland President Helen Blick officially opened the day and later presided over the presentations, with Mt Albert, Te Atatu, Royal Oak and Onehunga & Districts among the on-green prize winners. Oratia also featured in the prizes, while Maraetai claimed Best Dressed and Pt Chevalier took home the honours for Youngest Player.

A huge thank you to every club that attended, the Auckland Umpires Association team, Kohi Bowling Club and everyone who helped make the day such a success.

Most importantly, thank you to the volunteers and club leaders across Auckland who continue to give their time, energy and passion to our game. President’s Day is about recognising that contribution and reminding ourselves just how important our people are to the strength of our clubs.

We look forward to doing it all again next year.
