Spring Quad Kick Starts New Season
2 October 2026

Auckland’s representative teams are ready to launch their 2026-2027 campaigns next weekend, with the much-anticipated Spring Quad kicking off the new season.

Hosted in Auckland this year, the event will be played entirely under cover, with the 1–5 Year teams taking the greens on Saturday before the Premier and Development teams take centre stage on Sunday.

The new season brings plenty of change across the playing and coaching ranks, with new faces, emerging talent and new coaching combinations all set to feature.

The Spring Quad will be the first campaign for newly appointed Men’s Premier and Development Head Coach Sean Hird. He will be joined by new Assistant Coach Dean Edge, alongside experienced coach Tere Brunton, as the new coaching group begins its first campaign together.

There will also be plenty of fresh faces taking to the green.

The Premier Women’s team features four players set to make their Auckland debut at the top level, with Marisa Posa, Wendy Jensen, Fiona Mancer and Tia Moka earning selection.

The Premier Men’s team welcomes Anthony Ouellet and Matt Wesche for their first outings in the side. Steve Campbell has previously been selected in the Premier squad, but will reach another milestone when he takes the green for Auckland’s top side for the first time.

The Development teams will also welcome new faces, with Clinton Smith making his debut for the men and Jeni Hart for the women.

The 1–5 Year teams continue to build depth within Auckland’s representative pathway, with six players set to make their debut. Emerging players including Lilly Wesche, Daniel Chivers and Eddie Tutai Jnr add further youth and energy to the programme.

The action gets underway on Saturday 10 October, with the Men’s and Women’s 1–5 Year teams competing across Papatoetoe and Royal Oak.

Then on Sunday 11 October, the Men’s and Women’s Premier and Development teams take over, with matches played across Royal Oak, New Lynn and Howick.

The Spring Quad is the first opportunity to see Auckland’s new-season teams in action, as the representative programme gets its 2026-2027 campaign rolling.
