Young Guns Set for National 5-a-Side
17 July 2026

Bowls Auckland is proud to announce the team selected to represent the region at the National Under 26 Five-a-Side tournament in Wellington on 22–23 August.

The side features an exciting mix of established talent and emerging stars, including current Bowls Auckland award winners Hannah Dawson (Women’s Bowler of the Year) and Adam Blucher (Young Bowler of the Year), alongside Bowls Tonga representative Liam Hill, who departs for Glasgow this weekend ahead of the Commonwealth Games later this month.

The team also welcomes Anthony Ouellet to the Auckland programme. Anthony recently relocated from Bay of Plenty, where he represented his centre at the 2026 National Intercentre. His experience, proven ability and fresh perspective will add further strength to an already impressive lineup.

Four members of the squad are part of the Bowls New Zealand Under 26 Squad, with this year’s tournament carrying extra significance. Bowls New Zealand will use the event as a key selection opportunity for the Oceania Challenge in November, where the national U26 team will be chosen.

Now in its fourth year, the National U26 Five-a-Side has become a highlight of the emerging player calendar. Hosted by Bowls Wellington, the tournament will feature 10 teams representing nine centres, plus the composite Nomads side, all vying for national honours.

The campaign also marks the first event for newly appointed U26 Head Coach Kevin Beasley, who will lead the team alongside Assistant Coach Les Eagleton.

Bowls Auckland congratulates all players and coaches on their selection and wishes them every success as they represent the region in Naenae.
