The countdown is on! One of the most popular fixtures on the Bowls Auckland calendar is just over a month away, with the 0–5 Year Winter Development Programme ready to roll into another exciting season.
Designed for juniors and those brand new to the sport, the programme delivers six to seven weeks of focused coaching and development, leading into the Campi (women’s), Canoe (men’s) and ABCA Cup (any combination) tournaments.
To make the experience as accessible and enjoyable as possible, Auckland is divided into five zones, allowing participants to train closer to home while keeping group sizes ideal for hands-on learning and interaction. The programme is open to all 1–5 Year bowlers, as well as newcomers and non-members keen to give bowls a go.
The programme is overseen by the Bowls Auckland Coaches Committee, made up of convenors from each zone. This season also welcomes three new convenors to the team: Ian Fisher (South West), Dean Edge (Central) and Shaun Goldsbury (West).
We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to outgoing convenors Leon Chapman, Les Smith and Robyn Reihana for their incredible contribution and dedication over the years, with some continuing to support the programme in a different capacity.
Adding another exciting layer this season, every zone will operate from a covered facility throughout the winter programme, helping ensure the best possible experience regardless of the weather.
