U26 Pairs earns National Silver Star status
17 April 2026

Big news for the next generation of bowlers! Bowls New Zealand has officially awarded the St George National U26 Pairs Silver Star status.

This is a significant milestone for the event, recognising its growing importance on the national stage and its role in developing youth.

From 2027, the tournament will feature on the Bowls New Zealand national calendar. Alongside increased visibility, this also provides greater scheduling protection, helping to minimise clashes with other key events and making it easier for players from across the country to take part.

The benefits are clear:

  • stronger participation,
  • a higher profile, and
  • a more secure future for an event that continues to bring young bowlers together in a competitive and supportive environment.

Just as importantly, the St George National U26 Pairs remains a celebration of youth in our sport, creating connections, building experience, and giving emerging players something meaningful to aim for.

This recognition is a credit to everyone who has supported and grown the event to this point and it sets the stage for an even brighter future.
