
After two days of high-quality competition, the finalists are locked in for the Auckland Men’s Singles and Women’s Triples, with post section delivering the decisive moments.
With around 200 bowlers in action and three wins required to qualify, day one set the tone, but it was post section where the contenders truly emerged.
Men’s Singles – Post Section Delivers Standouts
With the defending champion absent, the Men’s Singles title race was wide open and post section play didn’t disappoint.
Mt Albert’s Zoran Bartulovich was in dominant form, powering through his matches with commanding wins to book a semi-final berth. New Lynn’s Davey Motu also impressed, edging clubmate Colin Rogan in one of the matches of the tournament, securing victory on the final end.
Royal Oak’s Peter McConnell held his nerve in a tight 21–19 win over Forsyth before advancing past KJ Lark, while Howick’s Clinton Smith produced a series of composed performances to complete the semi-final lineup.

Women’s Triples – New Challengers Rise
The Women’s Triples saw a blend of established combinations and new teams, with post section producing standout performances across the board.
A newly formed Howick trio of Penny Yam, Ting Ting Ip, and Sue Carroll made a statement run, defeating defending champions Auckland BC in the semi-finals to secure their place in the final.
In the other semi, Carlton Cornwall’s Estelle Hickey, Jeanine Browne, and Helen Blick proved too strong, overcoming a competitive St Heliers lineup after they had earlier eliminated the Bien-skipped side in a tight contest.
