Bowls Auckland, in partnership with our clubs, is committed to delivering the best possible playing experience for our bowlers. To keep improving, we need to hear from you. We understand that not all players share the same view, but it’s important we get as much feedback as possible.
Our latest Player Engagement Survey is now live, and it’s your opportunity to share your thoughts on events, communication and your overall experience this season.
The survey is intentionally quick and easy to complete (around five minutes). We’ll ask a few simple questions about your playing profile, followed by some short ratings on your overall experience, communication and event delivery. There’s also space to share any extra ideas or suggestions you may have.
One important topic we’re seeking feedback on is the qualifying format for non-pathway centre events. Earlier this season, the format was changed to three out of four (except singles) to help events finish more promptly. Now we’d like to review that decision and hear directly from players on what works best.
Here’s a simple breakdown of the options:
Three out of four
- ✔ Statistically fewer qualifiers, meaning events can often be completed more quickly and with less calendar congestion.
- ✖ May result in longer days on day one (up to four games).
Two out of three
- ✔ Shorter first days are more likely.
- ✖ More qualifiers, which can mean additional days to complete i.e. more reserve or finals days and congestion in the calendar.
Section winners
- ✔ Tournament length is clear from the outset and can be completed quickly.
- ✖ Fewer qualifiers, which may reduce post-section opportunities and potentially impact entries.
All feedback is collated and discussed at the Club Delegates Forum, giving every club a voice and an ability to contribute. It is then reviewed by the Playing Programme Committee (a committee made up of player representatives) before the 2026–2027 Calendar and Conditions of Play are finalised.
We’ve been encouraged by the strong responses and engagement from players so far this season and believe we’re in a great position to refine our programme and formats. Our goal is to settle on a structure that provides clarity and consistency for players and clubs over the long term.
It only takes five minutes, but your input can help shape the future of bowls in Auckland.
