The Taylor Interclub Eights and Sixes return this weekend, bringing together clubs from across Auckland for one of the most popular events on the calendar. These events celebrate the depth, skill, and spirit of club bowls across our region.
Eighteen clubs will host play over the two weekends, with teams competing for early-season bragging rights and the chance to kick off the season in style.
A showcase of club strength
In the Eights, clubs field teams in both Fours and Pairs disciplines, rewarding consistency and versatility while offering an ideal opportunity for mentorship. Meanwhile, the Sixes format combines Triples sides, delivering a shorter, more relaxed schedule that’s perfect for a fun and social competition.
Together, these events embody teamwork and all the hallmarks of true interclub spirit.
Ones to watch!
Mt Albert enters as the defending Men’s Premier champions, aiming to continue their strong run, while Royal Oak will defend their Women’s Premier crown after an impressive 2024 campaign. With several key players joining from other clubs, they are expected to be a force once again.
In the Any Combination division, last year’s champions, Auckland BC, won’t be fielding a team, leaving the door open for new contenders. Henderson, a consistent performer in this format, will be one to watch with two competitive sides in play.
In the Sixes, Pringle Park and St Heliers return as defending champions after sharing top honours last season, and both will be keen to build on that success.
Across the greens
It promises to be a vibrant couple of days around the city. A huge thank you to the host clubs, convenors, and volunteers for preparing the greens and ensuring a smooth start to the season’s interclub campaign.
The spirit of interclub
The Taylor Bowls Interclub remains the highest participation-based fixture on the calendar, bringing together players of all ages and experience levels. It’s a chance to reconnect with teammates, represent your club with pride, and enjoy the camaraderie that sits at the heart of our game.
Best of luck to all teams and sides competing across Auckland! Play begins Saturday, November 1, and continues on Saturday, November 8.
