The Molecheck Women’s Open (Singles) returns for 2025, bringing together a field stacked with talent, experience, and rising stars. With a full field of 96 players (46 new players) spread across 24 sections at five host clubs, this year’s competition promises high-quality matchups, breakout performances, and storylines to follow right through to finals day.
One of the headlines is World Singles Champion Tayla Bruce making her highly anticipated debut in this event. Alongside competing, Tayla will also running a sold-out coaching masterclass and Q&A on Friday evening, proudly supported by our event partners, Molecheck.
From defending champions to international standouts and national representatives, every section of the draw offers intriguing clashes that will shape the race to the final 16 on Sunday morning.
Section highlights
- Sections 1–4 (Auckland BC): Auckland representatives Agnes Motu, Jaime Delany, and Estelle Hickey line up alongside 2023 champion Adele Ineson and Northland’s Angela Moon and Dawn Owens.
- Sections 5–8 (Remuera): Section 5 stands out with Wendy Jensen facing off against Ōtāhuhu Railway’s Doreen Jensen, plus up-and-comers Donna Davison and Sacha Collins. Sections 6–8 feature two-time winner Elaine McClintock, last year’s runner-up Kimberley Hemingway, and U26 rep Henrietta Scott.
- Sections 9–12 (Epsom): A tough pool with Skye Renes, Kristin Stampa, Julie Chhour and Jo Cheng. Newcomer Rozanna Muriwai (Martinborough) brings premier-level experience from Wellington and Wairarapa.
- Sections 13–16 (New Lynn): 2024 champion Jessie Macaw returns in a competitive section alongside Philly Akaruru, Jane Seagar, and Northland’s Karina Cooper. Jenny Stockford, Lesley McLinden, and Linda Ralph also return as proven performers.
- Sections 17–20 (Carlton Cornwall): Ashleigh Jeffcoat, Hannah Dawson, and Bronwyn Stevens headline one of the toughest sections. Northland’s Diane Strawbridge is always a strong contender, while the clash between Rima Strickland and Sarah Childs in Section 19 looms large.
- Sections 21–24 (Royal Oak): A stacked finish to the draw, including recent COC Singles champion Lisa White, local hopes Robyn Reihana, Nicole Singer, and Jeni Hart, plus the headline presence of World Champion Tayla Bruce.
